Search engine check & Homepagecheck
Here we present you some tools, which you can check your website with. This might give you an insight of the difficulties a webdesigner / developer has to fight with every day. Please note, both tools do not do a complete sitecheck, but give you an impression of what has to be done.
You can check your actual ranking by using this tool:
This tool only checks for the first 30 entries in the result lists of search engines, such as google and msn. Just enter your website url and a keyword, which you believe users use to find your site. You can repeat the process for as many words as you wish to.
Check your sites for html errors and warnings, which may cause engines to fail or visitors to see a strange design:
That's the validating tool from Worldwideweb Consortium W3, which provides and develops html, css and some other webrelated languages, such as xhtml, xml and rss. You may find some of those errors or warnings confusing, as it appears to you that there are no problems at all to display it on your site. But some of them relate to the way search engines are reading your site, others to screenreaders or simple to missing attributes for that HTML element.
To check your website, enter your website url into the field on the site linked above. If your index.htm(l) file is not the real start page of your website, please enter the name of the document with your url, e.g. www.example.com/lang/en/start.htm.
Please note, this checks only the index.html or the document you entered and does not do a complete site check!
